Good things never go out of style. They may maintain a low-profile for sometime but they surely make a comeback. For the simple reason, that there are some things that have a timeless appeal. Like gold jewellery!
Considered to be old-fashioned, gold jewellery made a very fashionable comeback in the jewellery world.
Yellow gold is the traditional metal used to make wedding jewellery such as wedding bands. Gold is extremely durable and will stay with you for a really long time. The metal is soft enough to take any shape and strong enough to withstand daily wear and tear. It is also very affordable compared to other new-age metals.
Eventually as new takes place of the old, yellow gold was replaced by contemporary metals such as platinum, titanium and other such metals.
But the fashion world couldn’t stay away from gold for long. Big, bold pieces of gold are now often spotted on models walking the ramp for some of the big names in the fashion industry. Many celebrated faces were also seen wearing gold statement pieces that earned them a spot on the most stylish list.
A few years back Julia Roberts made an appearance in a short black dress, wearing a gorgeous vintage gold necklace. This beautiful piece was made in 1972. It comprised 29 citrines surrounded by diamonds and was set in 18k yellow gold. Jessica Alba also choose to wear a vintage style inspired gold choker necklace and matching bracelets to break the monotony of her simple...

January marks the beginning of a New Year and what better than a luscious garnet gemstone to start the year with! This beautiful gemstone is the birthstone of people born in January.
Garnet gets its name from a Latin word for pomegranate, ‘granatum’. And rightly so, because when you split open a pomegranate, the juicy red seeds appear like small pieces of sparkling garnet gemstones.
Garnet is available is various colours such as pink, orange, purple, green but the predominant colour is red. The coloured versions of garnet are very rare as they are found in very few countries.
Red is emotionally the most intense colour, it represents love and the colour never gets un-noticed. So if you are planning to propose or get married soon and the bride-to-be is January born then slip on a beautiful garnet ring on her finger. She won’t stop gushing as the ring will get her all the attention that she deserves from friends, family and strangers.
A gift of garnet symbolizes love and care of the presenter towards the recipient. So you can also gift a piece of garnet jewellery to your special someone on
There is an old wedding saying which goes, ‘Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue. And a silver sixpence in her shoe’. Each item in the lines stands for a lucky charm for a new bride-to-be. It is said and believed that if a bride carries all the five things on her wedding day then that will bless her marriage and she will enjoy marital bliss!
“Something old” signifies continuity with the bride’s family and the past. “Something new” means optimism and anticipation for the bride’s new life ahead. “Something borrowed” is usually an item given by a happily married friend or family member so that her good fortune in marriage can rub over the new bride’s married life. ‘Something blue’ denotes love, modesty and fidelity. Whereas sixpence stands for wealth and financial security.
In most cases a piece of jewellery is something new, old or borrowed. For instance some brides borrow vintage jewellery from their grandmothers to wear it on their wedding day. You can also borrow your mother’s pearl necklace or your aunt’s diamond studs that you always had your eyes on. No one says no to a bride-to-be so it is the best time to borrow your favourite jewellery without any fear! This takes care of wearing something old and borrowed on the wedding day!
Parents, often gift their daughters a piece of diamond jewellery such as a pair of earrings or a beautiful pendant necklace to wear something new on their wedding day.
