Lily Allen is “Smile”ing again now that she’s sporting what looks to be an engagement ring, hopefully courtesy of her boyfriend Sam Cooper. A photo posted on her blog to show off her manicure also shows a rather neat ring on *that* finger..

Well, if you want to make a splash the same way, you should get your loved one to buy you your own ‘diamond shoulder’ engagement ring (or if you’d like a more delicate version like Lily’s centre stone, we have that too)

Garnets as a gemstone have a very long history and examples of it’s use have dated back to the founding of Troy. The name ‘garnet’ probably refers to the pomegranate, where it’s seeds look very similar.
But for those of you born in January, the garnet represents purity, truth and friendship – what better way of showing your feelings for a loved one.
The garnet is also supposed to instill a calming effect, reducing negativity and enhancing sexuality – the latter possibly relating to it’s hardness rating with garnet being used to abrade and cut materials in industry.
As a gemstone, garnet has a beautiful rich red colour and was exceedingly popular in Victorian times and works very well complemented by silver or white gold.
We have a classic set of XXX inspired garnet and diamond necklace and earrings.
