What is the clarity and colour of the diamonds?

All of our diamonds are a minimum of Colour J and Clarity I1. The products that come with a certificate will verify that particular diamond and they often come higher graded than our minimum.

What is Rhodium plating on white gold?

White gold is an alloy (mixture) of yellow gold and other white metals such as silver and palladium. For example, 18ct yellow gold is made by mixing 75% gold (750 parts per thousand) with 25% (250 parts per thousand) other metals such as copper and zinc while 18ct white gold is made by mixing 75% gold with 25% other metals such as silver and palladium. So the amount of gold is the same but the alloy is different.

The natural color of white gold is actually a light grey/yellow color and so traditionally nickel was used in the alloy to give it a white look. However due to EU legislation, nickel is no longer used in white gold made today, as it can cause reactions with some people. We do not use nickel in our white gold. Therefore when a white gold ring is made it is coated with another white metal called Rhodium to give it a white colour. Rhodium is a metal very similar to platinum and is very white and very hard and gives it a wonderful modern, gleaming sheen. Rhodium plating can wear away eventually through wear and tear but to keep it looking its best, the product can easily be re-rhodium plated to bring it back to new.

How long the rhodium plating lasts is dependent on the wear and tear that the ring receives. It can last up to a couple of years, for others it may only last up to a year. We are happy to re-rhodium plate a ring that is bought from us for up to a year from purchase, after that a nominal charge will be incurred

Will my product come with a certificate?

A large proportion of our diamond solitaire rings are certified, far more than most High Street stores. Every product that is certified has an icon in the corner of the picture, either a black sign for the diamonds certified by the Assay office or a blue sign for the diamonds certified by the GLG.

Are the products hallmarked?

All of our products are hallmarked by the Birmingham Assay Office, it is illegal to sell gold and silver over 1g in this country without a hallmark.

Can you engrave my product?

Unfortunately we can not arrange engraving but the majority of our rings have enough space inside the shank to be engraved.

Can you confirm that your diamonds are not sourced from zones of conflict?

Our diamonds are bought from manufacturers and sight holders who buy the rough from DTC (Diamond Trading Company – Marketing Arm of DeBeers). They guarantee on their invoice (in writing) that their diamonds are conflict free.
